Irrespective of the letter's authenticity, the money-begging demands of the org are now verging on virtual harassment. J.W.'s are being brow-beaten to donate by every other talk, article, or broadcast. My prediction: the org could announce in the coming months/year that all contribution boxes will be removed from Kingdom Halls worldwide and that every active publisher will be requested to donate electronically, either via their bank account or the org's own digital platform - all in the name of improving administration and making better use of funds. For those who don't have the means to do so, an assigned elder in the congregation will "assist" such ones by transferring their donations via his chosen electronic transfer method.Every other aspect of WTBTS Reich #2 is now being mastered digitally/electronically, and since income stream is the most vital aspect of its business empire, the hierarchy will be reviewing how they fleece the individual sheep more regularly & efficiently. -

Regarding the org's secretive paedophile payouts - a thought just occurred to me last night:
One of the reasons that victims are required by the org to sign confidentiality agreements, (Candace Conti etc.) is not only to prevent the media from informing rank & file J.W.'s about the mi££ion$ being used to compensate J.W. victims of child-rape, but also to give the org a rock-solid conversation-stopper to any J.W./'s who asks about the amounts being wasted - "Sorry Brother, but by court order we are not allowed to discuss such matters." Win-win for the org.

Nice to see the Guardians Of Doctrine exhibiting total openness and humility.

One of the key ways to tell if it is a cult or toxic high control group....
by stuckinarut2 inmy wife and i were discussing a sure sign of a cult:.
when one knows more about the society / organization after leaving!.
lets face it, most of us here on this forum, and ex-witnesses in general know more facts about the history, background, practices, current procedures, scandals, etc than the average "still-in witness"!

One of the first things I vividly remember being told when studying with J.W.'s was that I shouldn't listen to any of Christendom's clergy on the radio or T.V. - and never, ever, ever, accept another religion's literature if offered.
Even then I wondered, "If I've got the truth, why should I worry about what they say?
The J.W. paranoia extends to all those who are judged and condemned as "spiritually weak" in the congregation - in case they've been trawling the demonic internet for information which was not provided by the org's "faithful slave."

I'd say him and his wife are too old to be hit over the head with the org's skeletons in the cupboard. They definitely wouldn't be indebted to you for doing so.
Just leave them to live their dream - and pass away contented. Best for all of you.

Re: Annual Meeting Announcements
Dear Brothers
In order to put more emphasis on starting Bible studies and to reduce the amount of material that our brothers must read, the Governing Body recently made a number of exciting decisions. These were announced at the annual meeting of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania held on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
Beginning January 2018, the public edition of The Watchtower will be published three times a year instead of six times a year. The same will be true for the Awake! For example, the first issue of The Watchtower for 2018 will be distributed during January and February. The first issue of Awake! will be distributed during March and April. Each is-sue will focus on just one main subject that will have broad appeal.
The number of books, brochures, tracts, contact cards, and videos that will be featured in the field ministry is being reduced. Essential literature items and videos that have proved to be effective in the ministry will remain in our Teaching Toolbox.
Beginning January 2018, specific monthly literature offers will be discontinued. More emphasis will be placed on starting and continuing conversations. Publishers will be encouraged to use good judgement in deciding which item from the Teaching Toolbox to offer and when. Periodic campaigns to distribute Memorial and convention invitations will continue as in the past.
If the book What Can the Bible Teach Us?, which is the simplified edition of the Bible Teach book, is available in a particular language, then production of the Bible Teach book will be discontinued. Publishers may decide whether to transition Bible students to the Teach Us book now or to complete the Bible Teach book with the student. Until sup-plies of the Bible Teach book are depleted, publishers should continue to offer it to interested persons who show appreciation for the Bible’s message.
A simplified edition of the book “Keep Yourselves in God’s Love” is being prepared. The new book will be entitled How to Remain in God’s Love. Once this new book is available in a particular language, production of the “God’s Love” book will be discontinued. Publishers may decide whether to transition Bible students to the new book or to complete the “God’s Love” book with the student.
Encouraging reports about the activity of Jehovah’s Witnesses in other lands are now provided regularly by means of JW Broadcasting and jw.org. Therefore, the Yearbook will no longer be published. When the worldwide field service report for the 2017 service year becomes available, this information will be published in the “About Us” section of jw.org.
Re: Annual Meeting Announcements October 7, 2017 Page 2
The website will continue to publish the features “Activities,” “Bible Questions Answered,” “Frequently Asked Questions,” and “Young People Ask.” In addition, the web-site will regularly publish the features “Help for the Family,” “Imitate Their Faith,” “The Bible Changes Lives,” and “Was It Designed?”
No new content will be added to the following features on jw.org: “Bible Character Cards,” “Family Worship Projects,” “Illustrated Bible Stories,” “My Bible Lessons,” “Picture Activities,” “Study Activities for Children,” study guides for What Does the Bible Really Teach?, Young People Ask worksheets, and the video series What Your Peers Say. However, the existing content will remain for now on jw.org.
It is hoped that these organizational refinements will help us to focus on our goal of teaching “all those who [are] rightly disposed for everlasting life.”—Acts 13:48.
We send our warm Christian love.
Your brothers

Convention Committees Re: Annual Meeting Announcements October 7, 2017 Page 3
PS to bodies of elders:
Please arrange for this letter to be read to the congregation at the conclusion of the next congregation meeting. If the circuit overseer is visiting your congregation, he should read this letter at the conclusion of the meeting. At circuit assemblies and conventions, the letter should be read by the last speaker on the program at the conclusion of his talk. Thereafter, the letter should be posted on the information board. This postscript should neither be read to the congregation nor be posted on the information board.
Congregations will soon receive their supply of issue No. 1 of the 2018 public edition of The Watchtower. As noted above, each magazine for the public will be distributed for a two-month period. Therefore, we have automatically increased your standing requests for these magazines. The service overseer and magazine coordinator (or magazine servant) should carefully monitor the distribution of magazines and adjust the congregation’s standing request to match actual needs.—See the October 20, 2015, letter to all congregations.
When the congregation’s supply of Bible Teach books runs out, additional supplies should be re-quested from the branch office until you are notified that the supply is depleted. To make good use of remaining supplies of that book, the service overseer may choose to feature it in the congregation’s public witnessing activity. He may also direct well-qualified publishers to distribute copies of the book to institutions such as libraries, schools, universities, retirement communities, and nursing homes.—See the October 14, 2016, letter to all bodies of elders.

The Watchtower's Real Crisis
by JeffT inwhen discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.

Up until the early 2000's at least, (according to accounts published around that time) the org was raking in far more money in donations than its needed running costs. It was a lucrative money-making machine.
Why would the mandarins within the WTBTS issue the orders to dismantle their money-making machine? No one can provide recent financial statements to show the org wasn't still receiving excessive contributions.
Or is it the case that they were ordered to do so, by Wall Street creditors?
Virtually every single "new adjustment" emanating from Brooklyn/Warwick in recent years has been money-driven. Either to save it or to get it.

When I was active, I was delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the scriptural teachings I had learned. Ominously, even J.W. elders who put themselves in a public place at a trolley will very quickly end a conversation and refuse to discuss any of the org's scriptural/organizational corruptions. They'll claim it's because they're not prepared to argue or debate.
As moreconfusedthanever said, they'll terminate the discussion by saying you should visit their God-blessed website for answers.
Every J.W. who uses this as a get-out-of jail-free-card is flagrantly rejecting the Biblical command for Christians to respectfully defend/explain their beliefs to anyone who demands a reason for such beliefs. (1 Peter 3:15)
